Commercial FAQ
What makes Intellihot commercial grade?
The Intellihot heat exchanger and integrated buffer tank are designed with high grade stainless steel (316L) with large thicknesses. The heat exchanger is dynamically designed to freely expand and contract under severe thermal cycles making it specially durable. The control logic is specifically designed to work with multiple units and provide high up time under various conditions.
Can you put multiple units together?
Yes, Intellihot units are plug n play right our side the box and do not need any special modification to internal plumbing. A standard telephone RJ11 cable connects one to unit to another for communication and can be set up in minutes.
Do I have buy a separate master controller?
No, Intellihot units work without the need for a master controller on our patented Masterless control logic scheme. Control parameters like temperature and program times can be set from any display on any unit. Individual units can be brought online or taken offline while others continue to operate.
Can the units be common vented?
Yes, Up to 5 units can be common vented. The intake can also be common ducted.
Can I monitor the units remotely or on my smart phone?
The controls have networking capability built in. You can monitor the units remotely via the internet or your smart phone. Performance, fault codes, and alarms can be sent to you phone so that you can keep an extremely high uptime for your customer or reduce your service significantly. A optional iphone app is available upon request.
Will one unit wear out more than another?
No. Intellihot units use a patented logic to self monitor their performance in terms of duty cycles, thermal cycles, and hours of operation. Based on this information they collectively decide as a group on which units should “turn on” next to normalize the wear. This is a on going continuous process.
Do I need to special kit to convert to propane?
No special kit is required. Converting to propane is as simple as turning one screw, changing the settings of the dip switch, and the fuel selection in the display. For more details on this procedure please refer to your installation manual.
For dump load applications won't I need several tankless units to meet the flow demand?
No. Intellihot units have a built in tank loading mode that enables it to work with a tank. A separate pump in not required and you get the best of both worlds – continuous hot water with capacity to meet dump loads at significantly lower capital investment. Click here for a schematic.
